TRUE SELF WORTH
At times, we often feel pressured to do certain things because of the people around us. In this blog, you will get to know more about this.
We feel because the majority of people are doing it then we have to do it. We feel awkward and left out if we are not doing it. For instance; the majority of people around you are using a certain type of bag. And because you don't have it you feel less, you feel you aren't enough. But that's not true. On the other hand, it's not bad to get a new bag or shoe but don't do it from the wrong motive. The wrong motive is that you are doing it from a place of wanting to feel among or feel better. Do it with the right motive.
Let me tell you something; your sense of worth shouldn't be based on material things. No matter how much you think you can acquire to be happy, it will never be enough to permanently make you feel enough and valued. You see, sometimes we seek validation from the wrong things. Our eyes are searching elsewhere to gain something that will increase our self-worth.
The truth is self-worth comes from within. Even if you eventually get that bag that everyone is wearing, you will still come across something you haven't gotten. You will feel the need to get more because the fact is that human wants are insatiable(limitless).
But look to the right source to make you feel valued. That source is the only way you can get true satisfaction of yourself. If you look to any other supposed source, you will only get temporary happiness and fulfillment. I assure you it won't last.
The right source is the consciousness of God's word. When you continuously remind yourself of what God says, then whether you have that bag or shoe won't matter because you will know that you are already enough without those things. Take a look at 1 Timothy 6:6 and 1 Timothy 6:9. Like I said earlier, it's not wrong to get new things. But do it from a place of fullness of worth. Then you will be okay when you have it and when you don't have it.
